I seem to remember the last time I ran the race, they had mile splits (chris might remember better has he ran it last summer), but this year they had the kilometers marked, so that's when I hit the split on my watch. The problem was I couldn't convert to min/mile in my head, so I didn't have a clue how my pace compared to what I run during the week. Probably why I just ended up missing my stretch goal of 32 min.

Ooo! I just realized that you Kristin had kilometer splits. How weird. I've never run a 5k race that had non-mile splits. That almost seems, unamerican!

I've always wondered why more races aren't going that way. Of course, I'm trained to think in miles for my pace, so I'd have to do some mental juggling if everything started to be kilometers.

Congratulations to both of you. Yours is not the first race where the official time and the watch time were inexplicably different.

Next time, remember to smile across the finish line. Better yet, make sure you smile every time you pass someone. It's demoralizing to get passed by a person who's smiling. :)
