Pregnancy Update

April 19th, 2007 by Kristin

Had a doctors appointment this morning. It went OK i guess. I saw the other doctor (not my regular doctor today), and I don’t like him quite as much. At least he didn’t have a med student with him this time…whenever he does I end up feeling like a lab experiment.

vitals: week 35 of 40, 166.5 lbs. belly size right where it should be.

I’ve been having some horrible itching on my abdomen. A couple months ago they told me I had a mild case of PUPPP, but it didn’t itch at the time, so I didn’t think much about it. As of this past weekend it is an incredibly bad itch. The doctors only advice was an over the counter hydrocortisone cream, and don’t scratch it. I told him I tried that and it didn’t work, and he just shrugged.

I’ve also been having a lot of contractions again. He asked how many/ frequency, I said I had 3 in the hour long car ride over, and one just a minute ago (4 in 1.25 hrs.), but not regular. Am I feeling a lot of pressure? define a lot. There is pressure, but not as bad as the night we went to labor and delivery. Is it bad enough that he should check my cervix? I don’t know, you tell me. We went back and forth on that for about 5 minutes. I’ve never delivered a kid before, I don’t know if what I’m feeling is normal or not. I finally said I guess I’m not worried about it, so he didn’t check my cervix. If it gets any worse, I’ll go back in. I really prefer doctors who just tell me what needs to be done instead of the ones who want my opinion on what I think should be done.

I asked if he could take a guess at how big this kid was going to be. I was able to get a most certainly not small (5 lbs), and probably not large (12 lbs). Things seem to be progressing normally, so an approx due date of May 21st is still good.

I’m up to once a week appointments now, which does mean we’re getting close to the end. If there’s anything interesting to report, I’ll make another report on Tuesday.
