Today K & I celebrate out tenth anniversary. Ten. 10. Years.
I cannot imagine a better friend, a more stimulating person or anyone else that I could possibly be celebrating ten years of ANYTHING with, let alone a happy marriage. Every day I am amazed that I am lucky enough to to have someone like her at my side.
I decided to dig up some images to remind us of how much some things have changed, and others have stayed the same since we met. Obviously one of these predates our marriage (about 12 years is represented in the pictures), but it was important to me to go back near the beginning.
K found me staring out the window, and after searching around for what I was watching got bored and kissed me. I snapped this picture and said “That’s what I was waiting for.” I like to think that I’m still able to surprise her.
I had trouble picking just one image from our wedding to put up, but I settled on this one. It was a bit less formal than most and its a moment that I remember. I seem to recall worrying that I was going to cause the top of the cake to topple over. I’m glad she’ll always be there to steady my hand.
I’m not sure where our pictures from the next few years are stashed away… I’ll have to dig them out and scan them in. Since this will be a surprise for Kristin, I can’t really ask her where she put them. We’ll pick up after a few years then…
We visited Oregon to go to Scott & Sarah’s wedding and stopped at Crater Lake. One of many memorable experiences was dinner for two at the Crater Lake Lodge. I’m looking forward to many more dinners for two.
Traveling together through Bryce and Zion Canyons (and enjoying a Valentine’s day special package at the Zion Canyon Lodge) was a memorable trip by itself, but capped with a week at the Salt Lake Winter Olympics is something we’ll never forget. Trips with K will always be unforgettable.
Another wedding of friends, this time Bill & Jenn, brings us back to pretty close to our own nuptial vicinity in Maine. We also attended John and Jeanette’s wedding this year, but without a single decent picture of the two of us together. Seeing our friends marry our friends reminds me how perfect it is to be married to your best friend.
This is a picture from Christmas time, not that you can tell. I include it because it’s a candid shot showing natural expressions of joy on both our faces. Here’s to many more candid close-ups.
One of what I hope will be many trips to the Adirondacks together. This trip started with our traditional rainy day camping experience, but as with married life, rainy days are often followed by sunny ones.
A Valentine’s Day kiss on the end of a dock at St. Croix. A perfect summary for a perfect vacation. With K, there will always be more special moments like these.
And then there were three. And so in this, our tenth (and now working on eleventh) year of marriage we start on another adventure as naive and unprepared for what we are getting into as we were so many years ago. I’m glad she’ll be there.
To Kristin I say simply: Thank you.

Awww…ya big softie!
Congratulations you two. 10 is a good number. I should do some kind of thing like this for Joe sometime (I mean besides the I’m-sure-he-doesn’t-want-them-as-much-as-I-want-to-make-them mini scrapbooks I’ve given him.). We realized recently, having started dating when we were 18 (he was just barely 19), we’ve now spent a greater portion of our lives together than not. Cool, eh?

10 Years and still going. Are you sure it’s A years, instead?
Congratulations. Another ten and the tyke will be almost ready to drive you nuts as a teen.
