software search

I am looking for some sort of program to organize my recipes and help me create menu plans and shopping lists. Is anyone using this type of software, and would you recommend it?

If you find anything linux or web based that looks good, let me know!

My favorite recipe sight has the ability to create your own cookbooks and make shopping lists if you become a ‘premium’ member. It’s recipezaar.com. I really like it, but haven’t taken the step of putting my existing hard copy recipes on there yet.

allrecipes.com (my fave online recipe site) will do the same thing. You have to register, but it’s free. You can find recipes, save them to a recipe box, save them to shopping lists. And, the “pantry” feature lets you save lists of frequently-shopped-for items that may not appear in any of the recipes you’re currently adding to your list. I haven’t used it (I’m still big on the Saving Dinner cookbook and supplementing with my own fave recipes.), but it seems slick and easy.

Thanks for the recommendations. I’m willing to put in a lot of upfront work (and more later on as necessary), but the results should be as easy as selecting a week from the Saving Dinner and pressing print. I’m still using that a lot, but I’m looking to add more variety. Something that it’s got to have (that saving dinner lacks) is an editable shopping list.
