Is it bad luck?

Friday, April 13th, 2007

Is it bad luck to update one’s blog software on Friday the 13th? No matter, we don’t believe in luck.

Let me know if there are any scientifically explainable random inconsistencies that I should repair.

Another random site…

I’m not sure how I wandered onto the Dark Roasted Blend blog (Digg maybe?), but I’ve decided I like their sense of humor and universal (if rather eclectic) wonder at the world around us.

Enjoy.

Some new pics

Havin' some popcorn
Man, I look completely huge in this picture. I don’t feel nearly this big. Must be because I’m reclining, or maybe it’s just cause I’m not used to looking at myself from this angle. Although, I will say that the belly is starting to make a nice shelf to set things on.

Anyway, I have posted some pictures from the baby shower my mother-in-law and sister-in-law threw for me this past weekend (thanks guys!). Hop on over to the gallery and check them out.

Wait and see…

We visited my family on Saturday because they were throwing a shower for Kristin. My sister had prompted my niece and nephew that Aunt Kristin had a baby inside her. When my nephew saw Kristin, the conversation went something like:

“Is that where the baby is now?” he said while pointing.
“Yes” replied K.
“It’s a girl and it’s coming in four days,” he concluded.

Later on Matthew explained that the baby would come out K’s belly-button.

Well let’s hope the baby isn’t quite in that much of a hurry. Besides it would be way too freaky if he were right.

Nursery Update 4

Thursday, April 5th, 2007

The flooring has arrived. It’s going to look great. Here’s a very fake sneak preview:

Floor Preview
Floor Closeup

Yes, I know, the floor is out of focus because I’m holding it in my hand, but it’s all about the colors. See!

We’ll be heading to my folks house for a shower on Saturday, then back here for Easter. The flooring needs to acclimate for 3-6 days (depending on who you ask). So I think I’ll be taking some time off late next week to get it installed. Hopefully with some help! (Eric!?)

Edit: Apologies to anyone who was actually trying to read this when I posted. I just couldn’t get the formatting the way I wanted.

Gallery update.

Wednesday, April 4th, 2007

I’ve updated the gallery software and the hitches should be out by now. If you run into any trouble, please let me know. The changes are mostly behind the scenes, so I doubt most people will notice. There is a nice panoramic plug-in for the “full” size versions of wide images. If you haven’t registered for the gallery, you won’t notice the difference… since full size images are only available to registered users.

Also I’ve added titles to pretty much every image now. This is partly in reaction to the new ‘Image of the Day’ that I added to the blog. It was kind of lame when IMG_4693 came up for the title of some landscape.

Thoughts for today

Tuesday, April 3rd, 2007
  • Something in my refrigerator reeks and I can’t figure out what it is. I’m thinking I’m going to have to empty the whole thing and really scrub it out. Yuck.
  • I have forgotten what a good idea it is to get up and go grocery shopping first thing in the morning. No one is there, and everything (except the yogurt) is stocked. Must make a habit out of going shopping early.
  • According to the dentist, I have extremely healthy gums for a pregnant person. I can’t imagine what he would have said if I had actually been flossing like I’m supposed to.

I actually made a new scrapbook page!

My Girl Scrapbook Page
I was browsing the web this afternoon, and found a contest over at Creaking Keepsakes that sounded interesting. So I downloaded the digi-kit and made this page for the contest. It’s been so long since I’ve been inspired to do any digital scrapbooking, but I had a thousand ideas pop into my head once I saw the swirly piece that was part of the kit. It took me forever to finish this page (I’m a little out of practice), but I am very happy with the results. Maybe with a little luck, I’ll win something in the contest.

Long night…

Sunday, April 1st, 2007

You remember those contractions that I mentioned yesterday? Well about 10pm they started happening again, and they were frequent enough to make me call the doctor. The on-call doctor said that I should go to the hospital and have them check me out, just to make sure that I wasn’t having pre-term labor. So we took a trip over to the hospital at midnight (why is it that every time I have to go to the hospital it’s the middle of the night?). They hooked me up to the monitor so they could check the baby’s heart beat and see how frequent the contractions were. They also did an exam to see if I was dilated, and make sure there were no issues that may have been causing the contractions.

The results: I’m not dilated any (yay!), I have a slight yeast infection (bummer), and was probably a little dehydrated (I’m not convinced), both of which can bring on stronger Braxton Hicks contractions. So I got medicine for the infection, two bags of IV fluids, and was sent home about 3am. If things get worse, I’m supposed to call them.

So we’re calling last night a nice dry run. We now know where to go, have some idea of what to expect, and got a quick tour of the maternity ward.

Today I will be drinking a lot of extra water, and dozing in front of the TV ’cause I’m tired. Hopefully we won’t have to do this again until it’s really time for the baby to come.
